Forward messages from your Gmail account to your BlackBerry device
by Ken on Jan.07, 2009, under Email
Email messages can be automatically forwarded from your Gmail account to your BlackBerry wireless device. You have the option to either:
- forward all email messages
- create one or more filters to specify which messages you want forwarded
-
- FYI: You cannot set up both options. You cannot set up your Gmail account to forward all your messages to your BlackBerry device plus have filters that forward specific types of messages to your handheld.
-
To forward all e-mail messages:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- In the top right navigation bar, click Settings. The Mail Settings window appears.
- Click the Forwarding and POP tab.
- Click the Forward a copy of incoming mail to option and enter your BlackBerry Internet Service email address.
- Click Save Changes.
To create a filter to specify which messages you want forwarded:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- In the top right navigation bar, click Settings. The Mail Settings window appears.
- Click the Filters tab.
- Click the Create a new filter link.
- Complete the fields in the Create a Filter section so email messages will be correctly filtered and forwarded. (For example, use the From field to type the email address of the person or organization whose messages you want forwarded to your BlackBerry device.)
- Click Next Step.
- Click the check box beside Forward it to and enter your BlackBerry Internet Service email address.
- Click Create Filter. The new filter is created.
