One of the following scenarios is encountered when using the BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry Internet Service:
- FYI: Make sure when using Post Office Protocol (POP), Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), or Microsoft® Outlook Web Access email accounts that the email application has been configured to leave copies of email messages on the messaging server.
- FYI: Follow the basic troubleshooting steps in Basic troubleshooting steps for the BlackBerry Internet Service before continuing to next steps.
- Make sure the wireless transceiver is turned on.
- From Home screen click Manage Connections icon/select check box to enable wireless network OR from Home screen, click on the icon for Turn Wireless On
- Verify that the BlackBerry phone has an active data connection by looking at the network status indicators on the top right hand corner of the screen.
- Confirm that a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) account has been created for the BlackBerry smartphone.
- If not sure, call your service provider to inquire if your BlackBerry phone has a BIS account.
- Set up the BlackBerry Internet Service, BlackBerry mail and messaging, or BlackBerry Mail account.
- Confirm that the integrated email account is validated.
- Log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account. and click the red-outlined envelope icon.
- You may recieve this message on your Blackberry device:
This email account is no longer accessible by your BlackBerry handheld. This issue is likely caused by a recent change to the password used to access this account. To resume receiving email from this address, log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account and verify the password is correct for this email account. Email Account Information: Email Account: <email account name> Email: <email address> UserID: <username>
-
- The reason this meassage is coming to your phone is because the one of the associated email account(s) is no longer accessible by your BlackBerry Internet Service account and requires you to log in to your BIS account to perfom maintenance.
- There are too many email messages or email messages larger than 8 MB in the inbox folder of the messaging server.
- To determine whether this is the cause of the issue, reduce the number of email messages in the inbox folder to less than 900.
- Some emails may have exceeded the maximum email message size when using a BlackBerry Internet Service account. Email messages received using a BlackBerry Internet Service account cannot exceed 8 MB (5 MB for the attachment and 3 MB for the email message), regardless of the size of the mailbox.
- FYI: For IMAP accounts associated with the BlackBerry Internet Service, make sure that the Sent Items folder does not contain email messages larger than 8 MB, including attachments.
