Fix My Berry

Creating a Filter

by Ken on Dec.17, 2008, under Desktop Software

Using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, you can determine what types of email messages are delivered to the Blackberry using filters. Two filters are created by default but are inactive (unchecked).  Also by default, none of the filter rules apply and the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software is set to forward all messages to the Blackberry device unless changed by the user.

With BlackBerry Desktop Manager you can also create filters that will forward messages to your BlackBerry device with Level 1 Notification. For this sort of message, you can set a distinctive notification, such as a different ring-tune or vibration pattern.

You can specify criteria to determine whether a message should be delivered to the BlackBerry device i.e.: who sent the message, whether you were directly addressed to or CC’d, and whether the message was sent with priority.

You can also set filters with specific actions associated, such as: foward all messages to your BlackBerry, forward messages with Level 1 Notification, send only the header, or don’t forward any messages at all.
