Facebook Application for BlackBerry

- Most BlackBerry devices will come preloaded with the Facebook application already installed.
- If Facebook is not installed on the device, open up the browser and type in the URL: www.blackberry.com/facebook to download application
- FYI: Data package is required on the device in order to access Facebook application.
- If Facebook is not installed on the device, open up the browser and type in the URL: www.blackberry.com/facebook to download application
- Click on the Facebook icon. A login window will appear asking for the login information. This will be same login info that would be used if accessing Facebook from a PC (email and password).
- Enter in login info and click on the Login option.
- FYI: If you do not have a Facebook account they will be required to login to a PC to create a Facebook account access the mobile version of the Facebook Homepage and create an account.
- Enter in login info and click on the Login option.
- A disclaimer page will pop up advising: You are attempting to open a secure connection, but the server’s certificate is not trusted. There will four button options to select from:
- Selecting Continue will allow you to access the Facebook application home page.
- Selecting Close connection will close the application.
- Selecting View certificate will open a new window in which you can enter your password info. Pressing OK will provide another pop up window which will advise: The following application is requesting access to your Handheld Key Store. The options will be to select Ok or Cancel. Selecting Ok will allow you to access the Facebook application home page.
- Selecting Trust certificate will open a new window which will state: The following application is requesting access to your Handheld Key Store. Please enter your key store password. The options will be to select Ok or Cancel. Selecting Ok will allow you to access the Facebook application home page.

- On the Facebook home page (seen above) there will a banner with seven icons shown across the top. They are as follows (left to right):
- View Status Updates (shortcut key S).
- Upload a Photo (shortcut key U).
- View Friends List (shortcut key F)
- Invite a Friend (shortcut key V).
- Poke Someone (shortcut key P).
- Write On a Wall (shortcut key W)
- Send a Message (shortcut key M)
- Also, on the main screen of the application there are two notifications: The Next Step and Getting Started.
- Clicking on The Next Step will provide a quick tutorial on the icons in the banner and the shortcut keys. It will also provide a link to BlackBerry for more info on the Facebook application.
- Clicking on Getting Started will walk the user through how to set up Facebook notifications to ensure updates are received. It will also provide a link to BlackBerry for more info on the Facebook application.
- FYI: Pressing the Menu button on the BlackBerry keypad will display the same options available on the Facebook application banner. It will also provide a selection to go directly to the Facebook mobile web site or by clicking Options in the Menu list, another screen will open that will allow you to logout of the application, clear the cache, leave email notifications messages on the mail server, and prompt before refreshing friend list.
